Leesburg, Virginia – Veterans and wounded warriors played a shotgun start on two courses at Lansdowne Resort under sunny but breezy skies. Dinner and a silent auction emceed by CNN’s Kyra Phillips followed. The highlight item of the evening was a Louisville Slugger baseball bat signed by 25 MOH recipients. A remarkable piece of history commemorating those who have given so much to our country. Keynote Speaker for the evening was Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Winnefeld who described the rich relationship he and his wife Mary have enjoyed with Fisher House over their Navy career. There was a great photo opportunity with the wounded warriors and MOH recipients who were in attendance. I was not able to play golf this year, but hope to return next year as one of the duffers.
