Cherisse Cobrand is a marketing and communications strategist with more than ten years of experience in driving engagement and building visibility among specialized audiences. Cherisse’s diverse background in planning and executing traditional, digital, and social media campaigns is hallmarked by a focus on brand voice and messaging, creative content development, research-based insights, and revenue-generating strategies.
At Powell Strategies, Cherisse develops and implements internal and external communications strategies and provides technical writing and editing support to the U.S. Department of Education Office of Inspector General. Cherisse also provides social media and digital communications support to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention National Center for Environmental Health/Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry.
Prior to joining Powell, Cherisse worked as a Scientific Communications Editor and Communications Consultant at the National Institutes of Health Division of Occupational Health and Safety. In the past, Cherisse managed global marketing efforts for Pfizer’s Prevnar-13 vaccine portfolio, served as communications manager for the cancer center at Georgetown University, and worked at several public relations agencies in New York City and Washington, DC.
Cherisse earned her bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Duke University and a master’s degree in Public Relations and Corporate Communications from Georgetown University. When she is not working, Cherisse loves to get lost in a good book, create recipes for healthy meal alternatives, or frolic in the park with her dog, Trina. A New York native, Cherisse is passionate about causes concerning education, civil rights and social action, food security and access, animal welfare, and healthcare.
