Jens Dakin is a Director at Powell Strategies and Team Lead of the Environmental Scanning/Issue Management Team supporting the Office of U.S. Marine Corps Communication. Previously he was Director at Marcher International, and Vice President at Hill and Knowlton Strategies where he supported various federal government and private sector clients with media measurement and analysis, qualitative research and strategic communication planning.
He is a former British Infantry Officer who deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (2004) and Operation Enduring Freedom-Afghanistan/ISAF (2006) and served alongside U.S. Marines and other U.S. forces. He has traveled widely and maintains a personal and professional interest in international affairs and cross-cultural communication.
Jens now calls America home and lives in Washington DC with his wife Katherine and their two children. Before children, he enjoyed a wide variety of activities that included cycling, cross-country skiing and meeting friends to watch rugby and baseball. These days he spends the majority of his spare time mitigating conflict between Hannah (four) and Theo (two) and managing their social commitments.
He is a graduate of the University of Leicester, U.K. where he holds a B.S. in Geography and Archaeology (Joint Honors) and a M.A. in International Relations and World Order. He is also a graduate of The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.
